Photographic print - Bell Lineman drilling for pole mount at North Bay The Photo was originally accessioned with a date of 1964. However, research has led to a revised date due to tools used and identification of individuals in the photo. The information below is provided by Brett, the son of the man pictured (George Andrews) "- George Andrews was born October 3 1921. - He graduated high school grade 11 from North Bay Collegiate. - His mother told him bell telephone was hiring. Back then you filled in an application and then got a job. - He starting working at Bell telephone co. at age 17. - Dad told me he was a foreman since age 25..... 1949......he’s not a foreman in the picture. - He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force 1942-1945 stationed in BC doing telecommunications work for radar installations, bases etc. Mostly in the coast. They were preparing for a Japanese invasion. - We think the photo was taken between 1938-1942. - Both standing men have a hammer , the steel the sitting man is holding is a rock drill. - He turns the steel while the hammer men hit the steel."
