Description
This coloured postcard shows an archway consisting of two stone pillars with a black span saying "GATEWAY OF THE NORTH CITY OF NORTH BAY" with the illustration of a brown beaver on top with a green maple leaf illustration. The Right hand pillar says "Gateway Clearance 14 ft." Behind the right hand pillar is a sign saying "speed limit 30 North Bay." Also seen is the Rotary Crest. This span was erected by The Associated Commercial Travelers and spanned Monk St but is now residing, after many changes, in Lee Park.
The back of the postcard says "The Gateway, North Bay, Ontario, Canada - 20. A collotype Colour Reproduction POST CARD CARTE POSTALE."
The postmark reads "North Bay, Ont. Canada Jun 19 5 p.m. 1954." The rectangular post mark says "Air Show June 26." There is a purple 4c stamp of a young Queen Elizabeth 11 on the postcard. There is also a message written in pencil reading, " June 19 Here on a little anniversary wish . Hope you are feeling better again Love Margaret." This postcard is addressed to "Mrs. Clara Geason ? 732 Logan Ave., Hollidaysburg, Penn. USA.."Creator
