Description

John Thomas Lovell moved to North Bay in 1888 and opened a store on 43 Main Street East where he sold Singer Sewing Machines and farm machinery. As the Northern Ontario representative for the Singer Manufacturing Company, he travelled as far west as Sault Ste. Marie on a regular basis. John Thomas Lovell closed the store in the early 1920’s before passing away in 1937. This photo displays a sign reading "The Genuine Singer Sewing Machine" and a group of 3 men standing in front of the store with a single singer sewing machine.
