Description
Photo shows Lovell's music store after a fire with firefighters standing in front of the store. Toronto Bargain stores on the left and Canadian Cafeon the right. The back of the photo is dated to 1937. H. Gordon Lovell, opened Lovells Music Store on 47 Main Street East in 1920. The business quickly grew and moved into a larger location at 185 Main Street West in 1927. The store carried sheet music, records, pianos, gramophones, and other musical instruments. The damage from the fire was later repaired and the store remained in that location until moving into a smaller location at 188 Oak Street in 1965.
