A coloured postcard of the North Bay Normal School. The postcard shows the side of the Normal School. There is a dome on top of building with pillars reaching the roof. The windows are evident around building. The building entrances are at the front and side of the Normal School. There are also trees and grass surrouding the building. The area with the shrubs was used for physical education classes.
The North Bay Normal School institution opened in 1909, and had an enrolment of 25 students upon opening. A Normal School was an institution in which high school graduates were trained and educated to become teachers.
It opened in North Bay to meet the need of training teachers for the communities within Northern Ontario. The North Bay Normal School was the foundation and roots of a post-secondary educational institution in the city of North Bay.Date(s) of Creation
