A black metal letter scale with a round pan basin counterweighed against a square pan. The round basin is attached to the scale arm with three chains and the square pan is connected with a metal rod.
026.04.02.a: A black metal stem for a letter scale. The stem is 35cm tall and has a rectangular base with cancave edges. The middle of the stem has red, chrome, and yellow stickers. "Department of T-de -mer-" and " -eights & -sur-".
026.04.02.b: A black metal scale arm for a letter scale. The arm resembles an uppercase 'T', with a shorter vertical bar and longer horizontal bar. A mounting point at the end of the vertical bar attaches the scale to the stem and hooks at each end of the horizontal bar serve as mounting points for the two pans.
026.04.02.c: A brass-coloured metal round pan basin for a letter scale. The basin is slightly concave and attaches to the scale arm with three chains. The letters "OPO" are engraved at the bottom of the basin.
026.04.02.d: A brass-coloured metal square pan for a letter scale. The pan is flat with a short lip on one side. A bent metal rod with a hook on the end attaches the pan to the scale arm. The words "Pritchard & Andrews Ottawa Canada" are engraved on the pan.
026.04.02.e: A brass-coloured metal pin, used to attach the arm of the letter scale to its stem. The pin is similar in size and shape to an eye hook: a thin metal rod with an enclosed loop of metal at the end.
