Description

This black and white photograph shows the high flying mania of a touring wrestling show at North Bay's Memorial Gardens. The tour performed five to six times a year during the 1950s. The leaping wrestler is likely crowd favourite, and North Bay's own, Dinty Parks. Dinty and Herb, the Parks Brothers, fought side by side against many "bad guys" of the ring like the Evans Brothers, Whitey and Don the "One Man Gang". These matches were all staged by the promoter, referee, and occasional wrestling participant, the "likeable" Larry Kasaboski. He organised matches across Northeastern Ontario and some of Northwestern Quebec, bringing to the Near North wrestlers from across North America for over 30 years. The photo seems to catch the wrestler in a moment of high drama, but the photographer likely knew when the "flying mare" was due to happen. Notice that the victim of kick is already turning away from it.
