Description

(1808-1894)." A photograph of a hand-colored lithographic plate after the German painter Carl Werner showing an interior view of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. This chapel is a kind of crypt, its cupola only raising above the soil. Twenty steps lead down into the Catholic chapel, where the three crosses were found. It sldo features the hanging oil lamps. This plate was included by Hisham Khatib in his book "Jerusalem, Bethlehem & the Holy Land & Egypt: Paintings by Carl Werner (1808-1894)."
