Audrey Flack often explored the sacred feminine in her work, reexamining the roles of women in ancient mythology and religious iconography. Flack saw the tragic figure of Medea as having been framed by the Corinthians: “She didn’t kill her children. The Corinthians killed her children and then hired Euripides to write the play and put the spin on it.” Flack’s offering of an alternative narrative transforms this mythical figure and becomes a powerful vehicle for redemption.Type of Sculpture
