Plateau is located just west of the campus high-rise dormitories. Built as part of the Percent for Art Program, which requires that 1 percent of the cost of construction be dedicated to public art, the sculpture forms part of a redeveloped campus green space.
Artist Andrea Blum believed the piece would invite people to engage with and ultimately use the sculpture, as it integrates a series inviting benches and tabletops. In the words of the artist, "It becomes something that is more familiar; it is not just a rarefied piece of art. You give it over to those who are going to be using it every day."Dimensions
