Description

Using abstract forms, many of which appeared in his early paintings, Kandinsky's composition uses perspective to draw in the viewer. The top left third and the bottom right part of the composition are black with white forms that float above. The same forms cross the center area but are now black in contrast to the white (of the paper) background. A long narrow triangle that crosses all three spaces narrows as it moves upward, defining the depth of the space. Other shapes, such as the curving white line at the top of the image recall the blue rider in one of Kandinsky's earliest abstracts.
