Description

These works come from the portfolio Gedney assembled in rural Kentucky in the middle of the 1960's. One image shows an African-American youth, wearing ajacket and hat. A large shadow of the child was captured on the wall against which he was photographed. The second image is a shirtless young child from the Cornett family, standing on the porch of his home. Gedney took numerous photographs of the Cornett family with whom he lived. (Willie Cornett was a laid-off coal miner.)
