While the paint application is thin, the artist allowed viewers to see the expressionist brushwork of mottled and mixed colors. Predominantly blue (pale in the sky, deeper in the water and shadows on the trees on the opposite shore), the yellow, green and black bushes on the left all reflect in the body of water that filles the lower third of the canvas.
