Identified by inscription on the reverse as Len Moore in his Chicago tobacco store, circa 1935, this photograph depicts Moore standing in the center of a well-stocked neighborhood shop. Glass display cases and shelves are filled with cigars, cigarettes, candy, mints, and other small goods typical of an independent tobacco and confectionery store of the era.
The image is rich in period advertising and product displays, including a large "Luckies – It's Toasted" Lucky Strike sign, Liberty Root Beer advertising, New Bachelor 5¢ Cigars, and Peter Paul's Cream Mints. A magazine rack near the back of the store appears to display a publication titled Marriage Confessions. In the foreground, what appears to be a Liberty Root Beer barrel or advertising display is partially visible.
The reverse identifies the proprietor as Len Moore and notes that he was "Roy Howe's Uncle."Made/Created
