Scope and Content

Photo postcard. The black and white photo depicts the Mason City, Iowa corps at a summer picnic in the woods. An American flag is visible in the back on the left side and on the right, a dark flag that is presumably The Salvation Army flag is flying. A drum with the corps name, a smaller drum, and a timbrel can be seen in the front center. The back of the postcard has the word Post Card printed in the top center in a stencil style font. Underneath that, the word Message is on the left and the word Address is on the right, both in a smaller font. The word KRUXO is printed vertically, dividing the correspondence and address sections. Research indicates that this style of divider is dated between 1911-1922. The name of the publisher, American Post Card Company, Mason City, Iowa, is printed on the left edge. A handwritten note reads: Mason City, Iowa 1933. The style of clothing the people in the photo are wearing are more indicative of a time frame of circa 1911.
