Description

Quilt, although dating to the 20th century, made in a crazy quilt pattern incorporating different types of fabrics and needlework. The back of the quilt is a white cotton and the binding is brown cotton with gold stitching. In the center of the top is a block with The Salvation Army crest that is embroidered. Above that is a red block with Jesus Never Fails embroidered on it, and below the crest is another block with Lt. Cl. E Marcussen handstitched in light blue. After his retirement, Lt. Colonel Emil Marcussen began a ministry for prisoners at San Quentin and Fulsom prisons. The wall hanging was later passed to Marcussen's daughter, Colonel Emma Marshall, and grandson, Major Paul Marshall, both Central Territory officers.
