Cabinet card photograph of an open casket, taken in the Champaign, Illinois area. The body of a woman, surrounded by flower arrangements, lies in the casket. The photography studio's name, The Rose Studio / Champaign is debossed in the mat along the lower edge. The name "Mrs. Spry" is handwritten on the back. Research indicates that a woman, Grace (Hendrickson) Spry died on May 31, 1902 in the Wilson building on east University Avenue in Champaign after an overdose of morphine. She was married to Alonzo "Lon" Spry, who was later affiliated with The Salvation Army Champaign, IL Corps.
