Postcard with a photo of the Chicago Staff Band in 1914. The bandsmen are arranged in four rows, seated and standing, and appear to be outdoors. A brick wall or building can be seen behind them. Each musician is wearing their band uniforms and a campaign style hat and most are holding a brass instrument. The band's bass drum is standing in the center of the first row and has The Salvation Army crest and the band name printed on the drumhead. A small drum is standing next to it. A man in the back row is standing next to a flag. A white border surrounds the photo.
The back of the postcard has a T shaped line separating the correspondence and address sections and the word POST CARD is printed above it. The photography studio, F. Wiedhofft, is printed on the left side with several different addresses in London. A handwritten note, in black ink, reads "The Western Territory Band taken in London Dad" is in the correspondence area. A notation, "Fred Spiller" with a line drawn to an X mark is next to it and "1914 International Congress" is next to that. A penciled inscription also notes the event as the 1914 International Congress.Acquisition
