Scope and Content

Postcard with a black-and-white photo of Cherokee Hall and the totem poles at Shagbark Camp. The hall is a log structure with a two-story entryway and one wing stretching to the left. The totem poles flank the entry area - three on the left and three on the right. A rock curb and shrubbery separate the lawn from the roadway. A caption, "Cherokee Hall Will Rogers' Shagbark Salvation Army Center Lake, Wis" is printed in white near the bottom edge. The back of the postcard has a handwritten message to Mary from Sue Janson. It reads: "Dear Mary, I am having a good time wish you were all with me here. Would we have a good time. Will see you all on the 15th August. Your pal Sue Janson". The postcard is addressed to Miss M. Hughes c/o Clara Rapp 1499 Burch Ave. Detroit, Michigan. A postmark from Camp Lake, Wis. is stamped Jul 22 1938. The postage stamp is a green 1¢ Benjamin Franklin.
