Description

Iron and brass cowbell, created for the 2002 Winter Olympics held at Salt Lake City, Utah. The brass colored cowbell has the 2002 Winter Olympics logo, Salt Lake City, and the five interlocked Olympic rings engraved on one side. The store tag is still attached to the lanyard and explains the story of the creation of these bells in Norway. The bell is formed from a sheet of iron, shaped, and coated with brass recycled from spent ammunition cartridges from Norwegian military shooting ranges. The lanyard is designed with flags from different countries competing in the 2002 Winter Olympics. Two metal and enamel pins are attached to the lanyard. Both are cataloged separately, as 2017.5.10 and 2017.5.11.
