Minnie "Ma" Burdick's Croix de Guerre medal (a) and accompanying box (b), 1919. a) The Croix de Guerre medal, a French military decoration, awarded to Minnie "Ma" Burdick for her service in WWI. Bronze medal: Cross with crossing swords and a shield in the middle. Red and green vertical stripe ribbon with bronze palm attached. b) Croix de Guerre box: rectangular, green box with lid. The outline of the Croix de Guerre medal is printed in silver on the lid.
