Red, black, and gold tambourine. There are 13 sets of metal zills held in place by nails in two rows. The outside of the tambourine is black with gold lines crossing eachother around the tambourine. There is a hole on the bottom side of the tambourine to hold in place by a finger when playing the timbrel. The inside of the tambourine is painted red. There are three ribbons held together by a saftey pin that are looped and attached to the tambourine. On the bottom of the synthetic drum is Dr. Beverly Peterson's initials. On the side of the tambourine it reads, "Miriam." Miriam is a Prophetess from Exodus who was the sister of Moses and Aaron. In Exodus 15:20 it reads, "And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances."
