Brown cardboard shipping box used by The Salvation Army to ship bonnets and hats. There are two pieces, the box and a lid. The top of the box has a shipping label from The Salvation Army Supplies and Purchasing Department / 719 North State Street / Chicago, 10, Illinois addressed to Major W. Lee / 217 Second NE / Jamestown, ND. To the left of the address is shipping information for the postal service, including a $10.35 charge Cash on Delivery (COD). A faded postmark sticker is adhered in the right corner, dated May 4 1949. The box is marked with a red FRAGILE sticker in the upper left corner. Another red FRAGILE sticker is adhered to the bottom of the box.
A handwritten note, in pencil, is written on the side of the lid: CSM G.P. Harrod / 517 W. Mechanic / Ottumwa Iowa.Acquisition
