Scope and Content

Flyer for a Salvation Army meeting in Pawhuska, (Oklahoma) with Floyd and Minnie Burdick. Flyer is on a cardstock paper (tan) with all black ink. Printed at the center of the flyer is a photograph of Ma (left) and Pa (right) Burdick. Ma is standing slightly behind Pa, who is sitting. Meeting was held on Sun., Jan. 18. Though the year is not specified, it is after the war, likely in the 1920s. Ma and Pa appear to have been guest speakers. Flyer text: Above photograph: "REAL OLD TIME/ GOSPEL MEETINGS/ Salvation Army Hall, Pawhuska" (centered). Below and sectioned to the left: "A WELCOME AWAITS/ YOU EVERY NIGHT/ THIS WEEK". Below and sectioned to the right: "The Young People's Divi-/ sion Officer will accom-/ pany them Sun., Jan. 18". The Salvation Army crest with eagle is printed between these two sections of text. Below photograph reads: "Ma & Pa Burdick, Houston, Texas, Overseas workers/ And for 34 years have served the Salvation Amy, and all during/ the war these two officers have labored for the Lord and Master/ Jesus Christ." (aligned left). Below and indented: "Ma sure knows how to fry those doughnuts and believe me, those boys/ sure did enjoy eating them in the land of the Poppies, and you will swal-/ low every word that comes out of her mouth just the same way. If you/ really want to see an honest-to-goodness happy face, visit Pawhuska this/ week and see them."
