Letter written to Cecil Goodwin (Burdick) from her "Uncle Charlie" (Charles. L. Burdick) on July 12th, 1938.
Cream/white paper with dark blue embossed letterhead, centered: "THE C.L. BURDICK MFG. CO./ MANUFACTURERS OF THE/ HUMATAGRAPH HYGROMETER/ AND HUMIDIFYING EQUIPMENT/ STEVENAGE HOUSE/ 40-45 HOLBORN VIADUCT, LONDON, E.C.1"
In the letter, Charles asks how the "young people" (Cecil's children?) are doing, and details his visits with "old friends" when he was "back home". He then explains that Cecil's Aunt Vesta (his wife?) is not doing well, and that although he sold his business "some years ago", he has gone back into another line of manufacturing.
Folded in the letter was a newspaper clipping from the Evening Argus in Brighton. The article, not referenced in the letter, is titled "Law of Gravitation---Brighton Theory" and explains "Mr. C. L. Burdick's" visit to the Brighton and Hove Natural History and Philosophical Society, where he discussed his thoery explaining the nature of the "force" in Newton's gravitation theory.Acquisition
