Name/Title

Nice, Cascade Du Chateau

Entry/Object ID

Description

Black and white photograph with printed caption, "726 NICE, CASCADE DU CHATEAU G. J. PHOTO." Photograph. The photograph shows what looks like the ruins of a castle or chateau built on a hill/cliff. There are several tiers, each with a terace and falling waterfalls. "Cascade du Chateau" roughly translates as "Castle Waterfall" in English. It is officially called The Castle Park (Parc du Chateau) or Castle Hill (Colline du Chateau) and was created in the early 19th century, when Nice faced the challenge of turning the archaological site of a former castle (Chateau de Nice) into a leisure and tourist area.
