Scope and Content
A notice in French issued by the "COMMISSARIAT SPECIAL DE POLICE/ DES PORTS DE LA GIRONDE/ BUEREAUX A LA PREFECTURE/ COURS DU CHAPEAU ROUGE". The notice is titled "AVIS IMPORTANT AUX PASSAGERS" ("Important notice to passengers"). Cream/ecru paper with printed black script-style text.
This came to us rolled up in Minnie and Floyd Burdick's United States Passports (2018.18.218 & .219), which were issued on November 8th, 1918 for war relief work in France during World War I. The notice may have been previously attached to one of the passports, as there is glue or tape residue along the back, righthand edge of the paper.
