Black and white stock photograph with the caption "ON BOARD U.S.S. RUMPLER - READY FOR THE SUBS." The photograph depicts around eleven United States Navy sailors on a ship's deck. A man in the background looks to the right through binoculars and several other men in the foreground gather around a gun turret. This ship's correct name is U.S.S. Rambler. It sailed for the Azores (Portugal) in November of 1917, then transferred to the French coast in 1918 for the remainder of the war.
