Scope and Content

United States passport, S. Minnie Burdick, November 8th, 1917, No. 72104, for trip to France for "RELIEF WORK". Cream/ecru paper with black printed ink and blank spaces filled in with handwritten script in black ink. The United States seal is printed at top, followed by the title/heading: "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,/ DEPARTMENT OF STATE,/ TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME, GREETING:/" Ma's photograph is stapled to the upperlefthand corner of the paper. Centered towards the bottom is part of a circular, red seal that contained the embossed text, "DEPARTMENT OF STATE/ UNITED STATES OF AMERICA". The top is stamped with a pink and a purple rectangular stamp. The back has blue, purple, and pink stamps.
