Description

Black and white carte de visite photograph of Elmer Burdick. Taken indoors in front of a marbled backdrop and from the waste up. Elmer has light hair, parted on his right side and combed over to the left. He wears a Salvation Army uniform and looks to the left of the camera. The thicker paper card on which the photograph is mounted is grey. The edges are bevelled and appear to have had a silver-colored coating, but it is partially worn off. Below the photograph, printed (letter press) in silver-colored ink is the script (French), "E. GRAFFE/ ET A. ROUERS" aligned left, and "9. PLACE ST ANDRE DES ARTS/ PARIS." aligned right. Written vertically on the back in red pencil is the name "ELMER", which is underlined. Printed on the back in brown ink is the text, centered: "PHOTGRAPHIE DES ARTS/ 9, PLACE ST. ANDRE DES ARTS, 9/ PARIS/ GRAFFE/ ARTISTE PEINTRE PHOTOGRAPHE/ BREVETE S.G.D.G/ E. GRAFFE & A. ROUERS/ SUCCESSEURS/ TOUS LES CLICHES SONT SERVES/ B. P. GRIMAUD PARIS/ 1917"
