A tornado devastated the small town of Standale, MI on April 3, 1956, leveling much of the town. Eighteen people died, over 200 people were injured, and over 2000 people were left homeless in the wake of the disaster. The tornado struck the area about 7 p.m., striking first near Holland, MI and moving northeasterly and then north, eventually blowing out near Rockford, MI.Acquisition
