Description

Photo taken inside the Red Shield Club in Kansas City, Missouri. A group of servicemen and women, in uniform, stand on either side of a creative display of New Testaments. A sign in front of the books reads: 5000 New Testaments Dedicated and Given to the Servicemen of K.C. by the Gideons / Red Shield Club 1319 Walnut / Jun 3 / 3, 7:30, 8:45 PM / ALL Service Men & Women Invited. Large pictures of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the US President, and of US Army General Douglas McArthur, are hung on the wall in the background. The women (not soldiers) are identified as Brigadier Lucy Grantham on the left and on the right, the Entertainment Chairman (in a noticeable black & white outfit) and Lt. Avis Pickering (Salvation Army).
