Photo of Ernst Brandt holding his son Charles.. He is wearing his Salvation Army uniform and is seated in a wicker chair. A building can be seen behind them. The baby is wearing a white gown and cap. The words 4 months are written in green ink along the bottom edge of the photo.
The back of the photo has a handwritten inscription "Tai Yuanfu Shan Hsi". This refers to the location, the city of Taiyuan in the Shan Hsi (now known as Shanxi) Province in China. A date, Jul 1921, is written below the location. However, this date might be wrong as Charles Brandt, the baby in the image, was born in November 1921 which would date the photo to March 1922.
The Brandts were appointed as missionaries in China during this period.Acquisition
