Photo taken near the intersection of Adams Street and Michigan Avenue in Chicago, Illinois. The Art Institute and its famed lion statues flanking the entrance steps are on the right. A banner hanging above the entry, although partially obscured, reads Masterpieces of French...by Cathedrals and Museums Alliance. According to the Chicago Tribune, a special exhibit of French tapestries from the 14th century forward to contemporary artists was held between March 18 and May 5, 1948 at the museum. People can be seen on the sidewalks and cars are on the streets.
