Black and white cabinet card photograph of a group of men and women from Salvation Army officer training. They appear to be in a yard or some type of enclosed outdoor area, as they are standing on grass with a wooden fence behind them. There are three standing rows of people, one sitting row, and at the front, a man on a stretcher with two women kneeling at either end. A white dog with dark markings on back, ears, and aroudn the eyes lies down in the grass in front of the stretcher. The woman on the righthand end of the first row (the seated row) is Grace Burdick. The cabinet card has bevelled edges with a grey front and back surface. Around the photograph is a raised double-line border with a line of small "fleur-de-lis"-like decorations around the outside. Written on the back in black ink is the message, "TO PAPA - WITH LOVE/ FROM/ GRACE".
This picture likely shows emergency disaster relief training that Grace Burdick was a part of as an officer training. She went through officer training in Chicago at the Women's Training College. She entered officer training and was commissioned in 1908.Acquisition
