Postcard. The front of the postcard has a piece of silk with The Salvation Army crest, with eagle over, embroidered onto it. A garland of red roses and green leaves arch over and under the eagle. The eagle is stitched with brown and yellow and is grasping a green branch in its talons. The crest is surrounded by red rays, has a light blue inner circle with Blood and Fire sewn in a darker blue thread and gold stars; the inner most circle has a red S wrapped around a dark blue cross all on a gold background. A pink and white flower is stitched below that with a scroll done in light blue and dark blue with text in yellow surrounding the flower. A paper frame, embossed with a floral pattern, surrounds the embroidery.
The back of the post card has Carte Postale printed across the top edge. A double line, "T" shaped, separates the correspondence and address sections. Modele Depose is stamped on the left edge, indicating the postcard was made in France. Research indicates this type of postcard probably dates to the World War 1 era.Acquisition
