Scope and Content

Souvenir postcard with colorful, embroidered flowers and the lettering "SOUVENIR/ 1918/ DE FRANCE." The flowers (4) are pink (fuscia) with green vines. "SOUVENIR" and "DE FRANCE" is stitched in purple (lilac). The year "1918"--centered and larger than the other text--comprises multiple colors and designs. The designs and colors are based on the flags of the six countries involved in WWI, with the color pink (fuscia) in place of red: The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, The United States of America, and France (fuscia, white, blue); Russia (fuscia, blue); Germany (black, fuscia, yellow); and Italy (green, white, fuscia). The embroidery is framed by a white/cream, ridged cardstock paper. The back is aligned horizontally with the postcard title "CARTE POSTALE" centered at the top and a vertical line separating the correspondance side (left) from the address side (right). Titles at the top of each section read "THIS SIDE FOR CORRESPONDENCE/ CORRESPONDANCE" (left) and "THIS SIDE FOR ADDRESS/ ADRESSE" (right). Printed along the left side of the vertical line is the text 'Fabrication francaise, vise Paris," which means it was made Paris, France."
