Postcard with a black-and-white photo of the entrance gates to Camp Wonderland, Camp Lake, Wisconsin. The road goes through two curved fieldstone walls with two taller stone pillars holding an arched wood sign that reads: The Salvation Army Fresh Air Camp. A caption, printed in white along the lower edge reads: Entrance / Salvation Army / Wonderland Camp / Center Lake, Wis.
The back of the postcard contains a message, an address, and a postmarked stamp. The card was sent to Mrs. N. Miller / 1904 N. 5th Ave. / Evansville, Ind using a green 1¢ Benjamin Franklin stamp. It is postmarked Antioch, ILL Jun 29, 1938. The message reads: Dearest mother, I got my (underlined) check and thanks a million times. It sure came in handy. I would have written sooner but I ran out of stamps and couldn't get any. I got some this morning so now I can write quite often. I'll write to Warren. Oodles and gobs of love, Dot. The writer wrote her return address above the stamp: Dorothy Miller / S.A. Magic Camp / Camp Lake, Wis. and also included a postscript in the upper left corner which reads: P.S. Save both cards & write soon so I can get it before I leave.Acquisition
