Description

International Salvation Army World War I Service Medal, awarded by General Bramwell Booth to Lieutenant Cecil Burdick, 1919. Circular medal made from metal (bronze?). Front of medal has white and red enamel. Red Salvation Army Shield in center. Inside shield is the Salvation Army Seal (white and gold) with the text "MERCY GRACE PEACE" in gold above and "THE SALVATION ARMY" in gold on white banner below. Back of medal: "FROM/ GENERAL/ BRAMWELL BOOTH/" (raised) and "LIEUT. C. BURDICK/" (engraved). Three small symbols (maker's marks?) also on back. Medal's ribbon is red with two yellow/gold vertical stripes, attached to a safety pin.
