Description

United States Salvation Army World War I Service Medal, awarded to Cecil Burdick, 1919. Bronze circular medal. Front illustrates a male and female war relief worker, a Salvation Army hut, and The Salvation Army shield. The reverse states, "WORLD WAR/ FOR HEROIC/ AND FAITHFUL/ SERVICE/ TO/ Capt. C. Burdick." Below is the salvation army shield with the year "1914" to the left and "1919" to the right. Branches to left and right. Red ribbon with pin attached to back. This medal was presented to Captain Cecil Burdick for her overseas service during World War I. In all, 255 medals were struck and presented to U.S. Salvationists who served overseas.
