a) depicts the tornado damage around the Orient Mine buildings in West Frankfort, Illinois. Railroad cars are lying on the sides off the tracks and the buildings have sustained damage. A water tower can be seen near the center of the image, lying on its side.
b) depicts destroyed homes and automobiles after the tornado. Workmen can be seen near the top of the utility poles, probably stringing new wires.
