Description

Round, brass-colored shirt stud. Krementz & Company. Middle section of the shirt stud is indented. Around the circular indentation are the words "KREMENTZ/ PLATE." Soon after the invention of the detachable starched collar in the first half of the 1800s, collar buttons were created to hold them in place. This circular collar button was made by Krementz & Company and was considered state-of-the-art. Previous styles of buttons were made from multiple pieces, which made them break easier. The one-piece button created by Krementz & Company solved these issues.
