Description

Trombone, with slide extender, silver plate, made by Boosey & Hawkes for Salvationist Publishing Supplies Ltd, serial number 175354. The trombone was manufactured for The Salvation Army by Boosey & Hawkes at their Edgware, London factory. The instrument was one produced in a batch of six by workman James between February 1 and July 13, 1950. The Salvation Army crest and manufacturing information is engraved on the side of the bell. The trombone originally belonged to the Chicago Staff Band and was given to the Chicago (Mt. Greenwood) corps. It was played by Doug Bowyer, a 55 years + bandsman. He borrowed the trombone from the corps and returned it when he retired.
