Description

Black and white horizontal photograph of a cargo ship on a body of water (likely Garonne River). Printe caption reads: "U.S.S. LIANGA AT BORDEAUX." The U.S.S. West Lianga was a cargo ship acquired by the United States Navy in 1918, assigned to the Navy Overseas Transportation Service (NOTS) during World War I. In August of 1918 the ship took on a load of 6,882 tons of materiel for the United States Army and a deck-load of 32 trucks and departed for France, unloading her cargo at Bordeaux and returning to New York by October 1918. Bordeaux (France) is a port city along the Garonne River.
