Description

Organizational uniform, used for The Salvation Army Chicago Staff Band. The dark blue uniform consists of two pieces: a jacket (a) and a matching skirt (b). The jacket has four fabric covered buttons for closure and is intended to be worn over a white blouse. There is trim at the wrists consisting of ribbed black fabric with a red stripe. A silver letter "S" on a red patch is attached on the left and right sides of the collar. Shoulder epaulets, on the right and left, have a white border, a black patch with Chicago Staff Band embroidered in white near the shoulder, a red stripe in the center, and a black fabric covered button securing it to the shoulder. The pencil skirt is unadorned and is only lined inside on the back interior. This uniform was worn by Peggy (Paton) Thomas, the first woman member of the Chicago Staff Band.
