17,021 - A GIFTED CHURCH OFFERING PLATE WITH ENGRAVED ROPE TRIMDescription
17,021 - A GIFTED CHURCH OFFERING PLATE WITH ENGRAVED ROPE TRIM This small, brass church offering plate includes a scrolled engraving around the outer edge stating, "It is more blessed to give than to receive." Approximately 9 inches across, this offering plate has a recessed center to hold coins and paper currency bills when passed in the church service. While it is quite reasonable to assume this was a smaller-than-usual offering plate and used in churches with a smaller membership, the long-time curators of this plate and its matching plate, were used specifically for children's offerings. The plate was a legacy gift for the children to use in practicing weekly giving, originally given (as inscribed on the reverse side), by Mrs. R. B. Baerndale.Collection
