17,527 - CHURCH TIN TRAY. NORTH TEMPLE BAPTIST CHURCHDescription
17,527 - CHURCH TIN TRAY. NORTH TEMPLE BAPTIST CHURCH This is a church "Change Plate", depicting North Temple Baptist Church South Ohio, and its pastor: Dr. J.H. Saunders. The majority of these plates were made out of tin and by the New Method Company. Because the plates were custom made, they advertised a screen print of the church or pastor, or both. Plates were given to parishioners after being purchased for very low costs by the church. Parishioners, largely men, were to take the plates home and place them on their bedroom dresser table or wherever they their daily belongings. As it would come to mind, or the presence of a plate would remind men, they could put spare change in the plate to eventually be given to the church or missions.
