19,533, 19,534, 19,535, & 19,536 - CHRISTIAN LAYMEN TITHING TOKEN. These token coins were commissioned and distributed through the Layman's Tithing Movement; a national movement in the first part of the 20th century. Led by Thomas Kane, these tokens were given by churches to laypersons known to be tither's.
Thomas Kane, a business man from Chicago, started a foundation for the annual commissioning of writings and tracts to promote tithing; a foundation still in operation in this current day. Kane assembled prominent writers and he himself wrote many tract and short articles, under his author's nickname: "Layman". The coin's relief on the obverse and reverse states: "One tenth is the Lord's. Love for God, Christ, and men".Collection
