Description

1932 – A THE CHRISTIAN INDEX NEWSPAPER: GOD’S ACRE MOVEMENT This original 32 -page edition relates information on Georgia churches contributions during the national God’s Acre Movement. This February 18, 1932 edition is shown herein in complete digitized format. The Lord's Acre movement spanned across denominations, and afforded agricultural farmers a method to tithe when thier income was limited to one payment check at harvest-time per year. Farmer's were encouraged not to round off their growing fields, rather to farm to every available corner of their properties. At harvest-time, farmer's who increased their sales volume from larger harvests were encouraged when their grain or farm products sold to directly contribute 10% of their annual payment directly to their local church. The COOP would write two checks. The first (first fruits model) payment would be the COOP to forward each farmer's 10% contribution from their harvest sales to their local church bank account from their local COOP office. The second payment would go directly to the farmer. This helped model first fruit giving and generosity as well. Unframed ephemera document. Image size is 10 inches by 11 inches each page.
