Description

24,005 - THOMAS KANE & COMPANY ADVERTISING MARKETING TOKEN COIN. The historic founder of The Laymen's Tithing Movement was a businessman who rarely used his full name in his services to promote tithing. Thomas Kane always referred to himself as "Layman" in writing hundreds of publications, articles, and tithing tracts and short literary articles promoting tithing. Kane founded a Laymen's Tithing Foundation in Chicago with the expressed purpose of perpetually funding short literature tracts and articles that could be purchased by individuals and churches at incredibly low bulk prices to hand out to parishioners to encourage them to be faithful in personal 10% tithing. This artifact is a large 1 1/2 inch metal coin token that advertised Kane's many companies that produced boats, engines, bicycles, church and school furniture, and many other products. Kane was a master marketer and understood that people like to be rewarded for charitable service. Thus Kane would use these tokens to randomly hand out, to present himself the opportunity to tell about his own commitment to tithe giving. Thomas Kane was historically known as a 10% tither of his own income, and did so through the Great Depression and Dust Bowl. His legacy was in founding The Layman's Tithing Foundation to grow enough funds to perpetually , even beyond his own death, continue funding to producing relevant tithing literature. After his death in the mid-1920's, the foundation continues to fund his vision even today.
